Attachments for forum posts?

Is this possible?
So far, I know that one can add attachments to wiki-pages, but it seems there is no way to do this for a forum thread?

Nope. That's by design. We don't want forum repositories bloated long-term by attachments which normally have a useful lifetime measured in hours or days.

An anonymous poster just rightfully pointed out that data URLs "can" be used as attachments, but that post was rejected because (A) we generally dislike seeing large data URLs in the forum (they're needlessly bloaty), (B) we don't need random attachments being posted by untrusted users, and (C) this site's CSP prevents such URLs from being activated, reducing their utility to very nearly zero.

Could it be not referenced as a repo file?
For example, when forum is in a separate repo, trusted users may just as well add a file and then reference it in the post in "/file" form.
This Forum repo does not have any files more by policy than by capability.

Trusted users can already link to anything in the fossil repo from posts. If there were any files in this repo they could be linked to with [label](/file/foo/bar/baz.txt)
.
