When will we have the version 2.24 of fossil?

I Just want to ask a question to the maintainers of fossil. "My question is when can we have the next stable version of fossil stand-alone executable to download or is it safe to use the latest snapshot in downloads page in production cases?" The reason for me asking this is the fact that I am new to fossil and the last stable executable is from November 1, last year.

I don't know.

But, you can download a more recent "pre-release snapshot" from the Download Page. Or you can build it yourself from sources. (Instructions on how the release builds are made is at https://fossil-scm.org/home/wiki?name=Release+Build+How-To.)

Note that the this website is running the latest trunk check-in of Fossil, or nearly so. Check at the bottom of the screen, in the barely-visible small light-gray font to see the version of Fossil that you are using to read this message. As I type this, it says:

Fossil 2.24 [e9d8c04c94] 2024-04-08 12:40:08

Thank you Mr. Hipp. I will look into the link and use it.

To add to what Richard said: fossil's own developers tend to use the trunk version, or something very close to it, for their own development. Additionally, sqlite is always developed using a similarly recent version. We generally recommend that folks always use the fossil trunk version, and we treat the trunk as if it were a "continual release." To the best of our collective knowledge, there has never been any repository corruption caused by using a bleeding-edge fossil version, and fossil has multiple layers of built-in protections to keep that from ever happening.

Thank you for clarifying that Mr.Beal. I will use the recent trunk version then.
